Short Bio 

Bev & Dave are New Jersey natives and North Carolina transplants who have played music for most of their lives. In fact, music is what brought them together originally, back when they were 14 and 15 years old, performing together throughout their high school years in NJ and during their college years in Boone, NC.  Bev & Dave have played in various groupings over the years since leaving the Blue Ridge Mountains, and have now come full circle and are performing as a musical duo once again. 

From the beginning of their musical partnership, Bev & Dave were drawn to the sounds of the great acoustic guitarists. They’d sit, listen, learn, explore and try to re-create the magic they heard. They also discovered a mutual love for British folk rock, traditional American folk songs, fun and beautiful Celtic tunes and the oh-so-many fabulous songs from their current favorite singer-songwriters. So that’s what you’ll hear when you come to a Bev & Dave gig: fun takes of their favorite Transatlantic folk, their re-imagined covers of fabulous classic and current songs, and their well-crafted originals too. As if that wasn’t enough, they’ve worked hard and developed awesome duet guitar stylings that sweep these songs along. Genre-hopping great songs, great guitar, great fun. That’s what they’re all about.

Bev & Dave play their music with great affection, outfitted with a variety of acoustic instruments: vintage Guild guitars, a vintage Alvarez Yairi guitar built and signed by master luthier Kazuo Yairi, high-string and 12-string guitars, Irish bouzouki originally designed by Andy Irvine and Donal Lunny, tenor banjo, and ukulele. They also bring along various flutes, Irish whistles, and percussion including an Irish bodhran. Their performances showcase a wonderful palette of sounds that will delight the ear and warm the heart.

Having spent a lifetime listening and looking for just the right songs, learning the stories behind the songs, developing masterful guitar duet work, and developing their own catalogue of originals, Bev & Dave offer up a careful selection of music at their shows that will draw you in and entice you to sing along.
